It’s hard to believe that I only have 3 months left in my years as Miss Washtenaw County 2009. I have to start with a huge
apology for not blogging prior too this, but our web page has been experiencing a transition year and will be new and better
then ever for the year to come.
So much has happened over the course of the past 9 months….visits to the VA Hospital and its veterans….CMN work…Start
Fit, Stay Fit work….local events…and of course preparing for and competing at the 2010 Miss Michigan Pageant. It was such
an honor to represent Washtenaw County in Muskegon this year. Though I did not place, I feel proud of everything I was able
to accomplish and learned many valuable life lessons during the week. It is a week that I will never forget and it was full of
many people I will never forget either.
The remainder of my year will involve lots of festivals, parades, fairs, and of course on going work on my platform. Many
people may not know how large a part of my life my platform truly is. Fighting childhood obesity is something I work at every
day at work and on my own time. I recently submitted my application to the State to renew a $5,000 Grant I received last year
and am anxiously awaiting the response within the next month or so. If the Grant comes through I will be expanding my
current programs to include an interactive tool developed by ProMedica Health System and HealthyI that I will use to reach all
of the 4th graders attending school in Tecumseh, MI. There are many great things to come for Start Fit, Stay Fit and the fight
for healthier youth and I am so excited to be a part of it.
Healthy Regards,
Rachelle Sweet
